Wednesday, September 27, 2017; 7:00 PM – Myrtleville House Museum
In the January 1st, 2017 issue of the Globe and Mail, Doug Saunders wrote an important essay on the significance of Canada’s Centennial year, 1967. In it, he called that year “the hinge upon which modern Canadian history turns,” and said, “We should spend this year celebrating not the 150th year of Confederation, but the 50th birthday of the new Canada.” In that light, join us as Bill Darfler takes a good look at Canada’s “Last Good Year,” to borrow Pierre Berton’s immortal phrase, and reflects on our recent past.
