Speaker Event – Zig Misiak: “Toni” Gretzky in WWI – with Special Guest: Walter Gretzky

This event is the re-scheduled date for February 22nd event that was cancelled due to a power outage.

Zig Misiak, a local historian and award winning author, will present his research of Toni Gretzky’s, the father of Walter and grandfather of Wayne, activities during World War I. Zig’s family lived less than one hundred kilometres from the Gretzky family in what would become Poland following the war. Walter will be present to share some of his recollections triggered by the research findings presented that evening. It will be an unusual and inspiring occasion to see how research can stimulate the oral histories captured in a family.
